Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum Share ‘Joyful’ Look at Life With Newborn Girl

“When Calls the Heart” stars Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum have opened up about what it was like to bring their first child home to their California dwelling—while lifting the lid on their “joyful” first few weeks of parenthood.

The Hallmark-famous couple, who quietly tied the knot in June 2025, announced in an interview with People magazine that they welcomed a baby girl together in April, revealing that they have spent the weeks since then settling into life as parents inside their Los Angeles abode.

Krakow, 41, and Rosenbaum, 39, who have tried to keep their romance very much out of the spotlight, explained to the publication that their daughter has quickly become the center of their world, with the pair embracing everything from early-morning cuddles to evening walks as they adjust to their growing family.

“Our precious new family member entered the world in early April. Our daughter has been the greatest gift, and we are loving getting to know her better with each passing day,” they told the outlet in a statement.

While sleepless nights have become part of the routine, they said the transition has only strengthened their relationship and shifted their priorities in ways they never expected.

“It’s already hard to remember life before she arrived. We are loving our roles as parents, and it feels like being parents together has only deepened our partnership,” they shared.

Still, Krakow admitted motherhood has even inspired a surprising lifestyle change: She’s become a coffee drinker for the first time thanks to the demands of caring for a newborn.

“We are, however, a bit more tired, and Erin—who was a non-coffee drinker previously—has had a change of heart on the matter,” the couple joked in a joint statement.

Still, the couple said the early days of parenthood have been made so much more manageable by the support of their loved ones, who traveled to Los Angeles to help Krakow and Rosenbaum adjust to their new life as a family of three.

“It was so joyful and dreamy bringing home our baby girl,” they said. “We got very lucky to have a happy and easy baby. Our families came out to L.A. to meet her and help us adjust. It’s been so beautiful watching all of them delight in her presence as we have.”

Meanwhile, the new parents happily shared that their beloved dog, Willoughby, has enthusiastically stepped into the role of protective older sibling, keeping a close eye on the family’s newest addition.

“Willoughby has been an adorable bodyguard. He’ll hear the tiniest noise from his little sister and run to her at heroic speed. He turns to us as if to say, ‘What’s taking you so long?'” they explained.

The couple also reflected on how their years starring together on “When Calls the Heart” may have prepared them for parenthood.

Between filming scenes with babies and portraying family life on screen, they said the experience offered an unexpected preview of the real thing—even if nothing could truly prepare them for the emotions that came with welcoming their own daughter.

The couple joked that Rosenbaum has been involved in a “messy situation” on set during every season of their show, whether a makeup mishap or an oil spillage, explaining that these accidents have given him ample experience in dealing with cleanups.

Krakow, for her part, has spent “years acting with babies on set” portraying Elizabeth Thatcher, which allowed her to slip into the role of mother with her own child much more smoothly.

In fact, the couple is starting to draw parallels between Elizabeth’s on-screen storyline and their own experiences as parents.

“There was a particular storyline where Elizabeth became emotional as she packed up the clothing her son had outgrown,” they revealed. “We’re starting to pack away our little girl’s newborn clothes, and it fills us with heartbreak and pride.

“Parenthood is a roller coaster of emotions, but with each onesie we pack away, we’re greeted with a new milestone, and we are loving her delighted gummy smiles and coos!”

Their happy news comes amid a baby boom within the “When Calls the Heart” cast, with several of their co-stars also celebrating recent additions to their families.

As they soak up every milestone, Krakow and Rosenbaum said they’re simply grateful to be experiencing what they called the greatest gift of their lives.
